Zoom Room(r) in Longmont Hosts Responsible Dog Ownership Day

Canine Social Club Celebrates Man's Best Friend, Benefits Local Animal Rescue Longmont, CO (September 13, 2011) - Zoom Room Longmont is hosting a celebration of four-legged companions throughout the city on September 17. The local dog training business and canine social club that specializes in dog agility is sponsoring an event intended to remind Longmont pet owners what it means to be a dog parent.

In honor of the American Kennel Club's Responsible Dog Ownership Day in September, Zoom Room locations across the country are holding events to educate first-time dog owners about the responsibilities of dog ownership and to help current owners enhance their relationships with
their pets. Zoom Room Longmont http://longmont.zoomroomonline.com/ will offer a variety of free activities fun for the whole family, and will be accepting monetary donations and supplies to benefit Every Creature Counts http://everycreaturecounts.org/ , a 501(c)3 volunteer rescue organization that found homes for more than 2,600 animals in 2010.

"At the Zoom Room, we feel that every day is responsible dog ownership day," said Marnie Johnson, owner of Zoom Room Longmont. "Classes here are for those who really enjoy spending quality time with their pets. All the products we offer are specifically tailored to improving the health, safety, comfort and training of your dog, and because of this we naturally attract dog owners who desire the same thing: the best possible quality of life for their companion."

Zoom Room will kick off the afternoon with a tricks contest. Participants can sign in at 11:30 am and compete to win prizes such as a Doggy Disco Party, a free group class and a $50 gift card to Zoom Room.

The business will also host two complementary "introduction to agility" classes at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Class sizes are limited, so pre-event registration http://www.zoomroomonline.com/longmont/responsible-dog-ownership-day.html is encouraged and can be completed on the Zoom Room website.

Outside vendors will be present to give pet owners a chance to speak one-on-one with experts about canine health, safety and behavioral topics. A pet first aid seminar will be held at 4:00 pm courtesy of
Cambridge Animal Hospital in addition to a low-cost microchipping clinic offered throughout the day. A variety of adoptable dogs from Every Creature Counts and Big Dog Huge Paws Rescue will be at the event, and local Longmont author Devin O'Branagan http://www.devinwrites.com/ will be present to autograph her Aussie-based book, Show Dog Sings the Blues.

Other vendors include: Happy Tails: Canine and Equine Massage Therapy, Doggie Doodles yard pick up, House of Hounds dog daycare and boarding, Studio LaBelle Photography, Blue Hills Dog & Cat Shoppe, Field Turf Colorado, Beccavision.com, Invisible Fence, Inc. of Northern Colorado/Boulder and Your Dog's Best Friend pet walking. The event will also feature live music and family entertainment such as bobbing for tennis balls, a coloring station for kids, and a "Guess the Breed" contest with prizes donated by vendors.

The Responsible Dog Ownership Day event at Zoom Room Longmont, located at 2318 W 17th Ave, Suite F, Longmont, CO 80501, will take place Saturday, September 17 from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. To learn more about Zoom Room or to sign up for activities, visit http://longmont.zoomroomonline.com/.
