Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute

This past week I got to meet Tilly and Oscar.  A dog and a cat that reside with Amy and Nancy at the Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute.

Oscar is a cat that much prefers the company of dogs to the company of other cats.  Amy and Nancy had a few dogs, so Oscar fit right in.  Tilly and Oscar love to play with each other but Oscar, like most cats has the upper hand.

Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute provides an exstensive 330 hour Practitioner Certification Program that includes both animal pathology and anatomy.  They have taught classes across the United States and around the world including Australia and England.

Tilly and Amy demonstrated some of the basic points in acupressure for small animals.  Acupressure can be used to improve many different aliments such as digestion problems, chronic aging issues, immune systems deficiency, muscular and skeletal concerns and overall healing.
Oak
Amy and Nancy have helped foster many local shelter dogs over the years and adopted several along the way.  Oak was one they just had to adopt.  He had some health issues requiring surgery.  They used acupressure both before and after his procedure.  Oak was up walking around and taking stairs in no time.  Acupressure worked so well for Oak, at his one week checkup he was moving as if it was his six week check.

Oscar, the big black and white cat, came out to see what was going on.

Acupressure is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine based on the belief that everyone has a life force called chi and the major theory of finding the balance between the dynamic energies of yin and yang.

For the first time in in almost five years Amy will be teaching their Intro to Small Animal Acupressure and Massage right here in Denver this March. This is a great class for anyone interested in learning more about acupressure and how it can help their own pets.  Or anyone looking for Continuing Education Credits in the acupressure and massage industry.
